International Break Recap: 8 URFC Players Represented Respective Nations During Busy FIFA Window

During the recent international break, eight Utah Royals FC players proudly represented their countries on the global stage, showcasing the club’s growing impact across international football. Spanning seven different nations, these players competed in high-level matches, contributing key performances and gaining valuable experience. From scoring goals and playing full matches to earning call-ups and making international debuts, URFC talent was on display around the world, demonstrating both individual excellence and the strength of the Royals' roster.

For the second time this season, both Mandy McGlynn and Ally Sentnor were selected to the USWNT first team, while defender Lauren Flynn earned a call-up to the U.S. U-23 roster, continuing her rise through the national team ranks.

McGlynn earned another well-deserved call-up to the U.S. Women’s National Team for the international break, continuing to establish herself among the country’s top talents between the posts. While she did not see game time in either of the matches, her presence on the roster reflects the confidence the coaching staff has in her abilities and potential. Being part of the national team environment provides valuable experience, and McGlynn remains a strong and reliable option as she continues to compete at the highest level.

Sentnor made a powerful statement while representing the U.S. Women’s National Team during the international break, showcasing her rising star potential on the world stage. She first appeared off the bench in the 57th minute of the USA’s 3-0 win over China on May 31. It was in the following match against Jamaica on June 3 that Sentnor truly stole the spotlight. Earning a spot in the starting XI, she delivered a breakout performance, scoring two of the USA’s four goals in a commanding 4-0 victory. Her clinical finishes in the 19th and 28th minutes set the tone early, and she continued to be a dynamic force until being subbed out in the 67th minute. Sentnor’s performance not only highlighted her attacking prowess but also cemented her place as one of the brightest young talents in the USWNT setup.

Flynn represented the United States in the U-23 squad, making a strong impression during back-to-back matches against Germany. She came on as a substitute in the 77th minute to help close out a 2-1 victory on May 30, 2025. Just days later, Flynn earned a starting role and played the full 90 minutes in a tightly contested 2-1 loss on June 2, 2025. Her performances across both matches showcased her versatility, composure under pressure, and growing influence within the U-23 squad.

Representing Guatemala, Aisha Solórzano headed into the break aiming to earn her fourth and fifth caps for the Guatemalan national team, determined to continue proving her value and impact on the international stage. Featuring in both matches against Puerto Rico. She came on as a halftime substitute in the May 26 match, facing off against her former teammate, goalkeeper Cristina Roque, in a 1-0 loss. Solórzano saw more extended action in the second game on May 31 and made her mark by scoring Guatemala’s lone goal in a 2-1 defeat.

Striker Mina Tanaka represented the fourth country for URFC with Japan, on the senior national team in two competitive matches during the international break. She led the line and played the full 90 minutes in a challenging 3-1 loss to Brazil on May 30. Tanaka remained a key figure up top in the following match on June 2 earning the start and captains armband, in a narrow 2-1 defeat. Despite the results, her consistent presence highlighted her importance to Japan’s attacking efforts and leadership on the field.

Janni Thomsen returned to the De rød-hvide (The Red and White), delivering two strong performances on the pitch. She played the full 90 minutes in Denmark’s 1-0 victory over Wales on May 30, contributing to a solid defensive and midfield effort. Thomsen remained a key presence in the lineup on June 3 against Sweden, once again going the distance and scoring Denmark’s lone goal in the 41st minute during a tough 6-1 defeat. Despite the result, her consistency, endurance, and ability to make an impact in high-level matches underscore her importance to the Danish squad.

For the second straight international window, Bianca St-Georges was called up to represent the Canadian national team during their two-match series against Haiti, contributing to a pair of convincing wins. In the May 31st match, St-Georges earned a starting spot and played the entire first half, helping set the tone in Canada’s dominant 4-1 victory. She returned to the field in the second matchup on June 3, subbing in during stoppage time (90+5) as Canada secured a 3-1 win.

URFC’s Ana María Guzmán represented the Colombian national team during their international series against South Korea. She remained on the bench for Colombia’s 1-0 victory on Friday, May 30. In the second match on Monday, June 2, Guzmán came on as a halftime substitute and contributed to a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Her involvement reflected Colombia’s continued investment in developing young talent in competitive international settings.The 19-year-old defender earned her seventh cap with the senior team.

Utah Royals FC return to NWSL play this Saturday June 6th, traveling to Kentucky to take on Racing Louisville. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM MT and will be available for streaming on NWSL+ website.
