HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, July 17, 2023) – Real Salt Lake Academy is set to have three players join Brøndby IF’s U-19 squad in Denmark for a preseason training stint, including goalkeeper Blake Kelly, and defenders Gabriel Oksanen and Gershon Henry.
Kelly has appeared in five matches during the 2023 season for Real Monarchs, second only behind fellow RSL Academy product Fernando Delgado. Kelly has also been a mainstay in the RSL Academy U-17, appearing in both Generation Adidas Cup and MLS NEXT Flex.
Meanwhile, Oksanen has become a frequent representative in Finland’s youth system, most recently playing in the U-17 UEFA Championship Elite Round where he faced Germany, Spain, and Turkey. The right-back has appeared in two MLS NEXT Pro matches in 2023, going the full 90 in each match, as well as playing in all three major academy tournaments.
Henry has also represented both Finland and the United States at the U-17 level, most recently earning a call up to the U-17 UEFA Championship Elite Round with Oksanen and Finland. A left-footed center-back, Henry has played in three MLS NEXT Pro matches this year, while being an anchor for the U-17 squad.
This international training opportunity is another step in furthering the partnerships between the Blitzer Global Football Holdings network of soccer clubs, allowing for RSL players to train with teams abroad, gaining experience and exposure.
