Real Salt Lake will celebrate its annual Kick Childhood Cancer Night on Saturday, September 12, featuring the Club’s fifth annual Teddy Bear Toss at America First Field.
The Teddy Bear Toss has become a special RSL tradition, first taking place in 2022 when thousands of fans tossed plush stuffed toys onto the field after RSL scored its opening goal against Vancouver on Kick Childhood Cancer Night.
What is the Teddy Bear Toss?
The Teddy Bear Toss is a special Kick Childhood Cancer Night tradition where RSL fans come together to throw new, soft stuffed plush toys onto the field at a designated time.
When will the Teddy Bear Toss take place?
The Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the halftime whistle. Fans will be encouraged to throw their stuffed toys onto the field in unison to celebrate Kick Childhood Cancer Night.
Please do not throw anything onto the field before halftime.
What should I bring?
Fans who would like to participate should bring a new, soft stuffed plush toy or teddy bear.
What should I NOT bring?
For everyone's safety, please do not bring stuffed toys or plush items that contain:
- Batteries
- Mechanical components
- Anything packaged in a box
Only soft, stuffed plush toys should be thrown onto the field.
Can I throw something other than a teddy bear?
No. Only new, soft stuffed plush toys should be thrown onto the field.
Please do not throw any other objects onto the field. This includes items that may appear harmless but could cause injury to players, referees, staff or other fans.
Can I throw my teddy bear at a player, referee or staff member?
Absolutely not.
Teddy bears should only be thrown onto the field after the halftime whistle and as part of the organized Teddy Bear Toss.
Any fan who throws a teddy bear at a player, referee or staff member, or throws anything onto the field outside of the designated Teddy Bear Toss, will be ejected and escorted from the building.
These guidelines are in place to help ensure everyone can safely enjoy this special tradition.
What happens if I miss the Teddy Bear Toss?
If you're at America First Field but miss the Teddy Bear Toss, you can still donate your stuffed toy at RSL Guest Services.
We encourage fans to donate even if they aren't able to participate in the toss.
Can I donate a stuffed toy if I won't be attending the game?
Yes!
Fans who won't be attending the match can drop off new stuffed toys at the Executive Entrance on the west side of America First Field through September 11.
The entrance is located directly to the right of the West Lobby.
Where do the donated stuffed toys go?
All donated stuffed toys will be distributed to charitable organizations throughout the community, including:
- Intermountain Health Primary Children's Hospital
- American Cancer Society
- Ronald McDonald House
- Best Seat in the House
- And additional community organizations
Why are there specific rules for the Teddy Bear Toss?
The Teddy Bear Toss is meant to be a fun and meaningful experience for everyone.
Following the guidelines helps prevent fans from being injured by stray or inappropriate objects and allows everyone to enjoy the moment together.
Please help us keep this tradition safe by throwing only soft stuffed plush toys, only at halftime, and only onto the field — never at players, referees or staff.

- Keep it with you during the game.
- Wait until the halftime whistle.
- When instructed, join thousands of RSL fans in the Teddy Bear Toss.
