SANDY, Utah (Monday, July 3, 2017) – Real Salt Lake continues its 2017 Major League Soccer campaign Tuesday night in Southern California, the club making its lone Los Angeles trip to StubHub Center against perennial playoff rival LA Galaxy. Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. MT, with fans able to WATCH Brian Dunseth and David James begin coverage at 8:00 p.m. MT on KMYU (2.2 air / 12 satellite / 643 Comcast HD) or listen to Bill Riley, Jay Nolly and the ESPN700 AM crew starting at 7:30 p.m. MT.
Real Salt Lake (5-12-2, 17 points, 11th West) saw its three-game home win streak snapped Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium with an 0-1 loss to Orlando. Tuesday in LA, RSL seeks revenge for the 1-2 home loss suffered on March 18 to the Galaxy in what proved to be former head coach Jeff Cassar’s last game with the club.
RSL has dropped five consecutive games in both reg. season and playoff action at LA, not winning in Carson, Calif. since early 2014. However, the club’s total of 12 road wins at the venue (six each against both the Galaxy and Chivas USA) comprise more than one-quarter of the Claret-and-Cobalt’s all-time 44 road wins in its 13-year history. RSL players with SoCal ties include veteran GK Nick Rimando (Montclair, Calif., native / UCLA), DF Tony Beltran (Claremont, Calif. native / UCLA), FW Yura Movsisyan (Pasadena, Calif. resident / Pasadena City College), as well as M/F Sebastian Saucedo (born in San Fernando Valley) and MF Jose Hernandez (UCLA, reigning co-PAC 12 Player of the Year).
Real Salt Lake is now 5-9-0 since April 8 in its new era under Head Coach Mike Petke, a total which included three consecutive one-goal home wins in recent weeks over NYCFC (2-1), Philadelphia Union (1-0) and Minnesota United (1-0), prior to Friday’s loss.
