HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, October 12, 2018) â€“ Real Monarchs SLC (18-12-3, 57 points, 4 West) closes the 2018 United Soccer League regular season on Saturday, October 13 against Fresno FC at 8:00 p.m. MT. Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave leads his side into Chukchansi Park for the first time in club history, looking to secure a home-playoff match the following weekend.

The final match of the regular season poses an interesting situation for the Monarchs. The club will be playing Reno 1868 FC in the Western Conference quarterfinals, but with final seeding yet to be determined, the Monarchs don’t know where its quarterfinal match will be played.

With the Monarchs holding a slim one-point advantage over 1868 FC in fourth place in the Western Conference, the Monarchs will host the match with a win over Fresno on Saturday. If Reno fail to win – draw or lose – on Saturday against Orange County SC, the Monarchs will host the first-round matchup. The Monarchs also hold the Total Wins tiebreaker over Reno and would therefore host the Nevada side if the clubs were to draw level on points at the end of the regular season. With only one scenario seeing the Monarchs travel to Reno – A Monarchs loss & a Reno victory – fans will surely be watching the score of both matches on Saturday.

Fresno and the Monarchs have met on two previous occasions at Zions Bank Stadium this season as the Monarchs took two 1-0 decisions on May 12 and June 26 respectively. In the first match between the two sides, MF Maikel Chang notched the only goal of the match before DF Andrew Brody’s solo effort in June helped the Utah side claim victory over the Foxes.

Real Monarchs moved away from the home of Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC at Rio Tinto Stadium in April to christen the new, 5,000 seat Zions Bank Stadium on the campus of the $78 million Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah. The state-of-the-art venue will boast a full-service press box and broadcasting booth as well as concessions on either side of the stadium. Officially opening April 2018, the Monarchs will host 17 regular-season matches at Zions Bank Stadium in the first year at the league’s newest venue starting with an April 30 match against Las Vegas Lights FC for the first ever “Saints-and-Sinners/I-15” Rivalry.

The Herriman facility provides adjacencies for an on-site charter school in conjunction with the Jordan School District, which opened last August, focusing on STEM disciplines (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) for nearly 300 boys and girls, kicking off a new era for both sports and education in Utah.

Last December in North Logan, Utah, RSL Owner Dell Loy Hansen christened the opening of the first of a half-dozen regional training centers across Utah and Arizona to be built in the next 2-3 years.  Each $5 million RTC houses a classroom, as well as an indoor and outdoor field, dedicated to fulfilling a curriculum consistent with the club's vision and mission for youth soccer training and education, and the continued development of both recreational and competitive pre-Academy (ages 7-14) initiatives across Utah and Arizona.
