SAN JOSE, Calif. (Friday, Oct. 30, 2026) – Saturday, Real Salt Lake (12W-14L-6T, 42 points, 9th West / 17th Shield MLS) travels to face the San Jose Earthquakes (13W-9L-10T, 49 points, 5th West / 10th Shield) in the second of two road games this week, following Wednesday night’s come-from-behind 2-1 win at Austin FC. RSL arrives in San Jose for the Halloween matinee unbeaten in its last four matches, having secured 13 points from its last six games, including back-to-back road wins at Kansas City and Austin.
Wednesday’s 2-1 win at Austin continued this ongoing three-game week for RSL, competing in a tightly-packed Western Conference race as it travels to San Jose for the penultimate 2026 MLS reg. season contest. With only two regular season games remaining, RSL sits just in ninth place in the West, just one point behind Colorado and Seattle, while leapfrogging its Nov. 7 opponent in the “Decision Day” home finale, the 10th-place LA Galaxy, which sit just one point back of RSL for the final Western Wild Card berth.
RSL is one of several West teams separated by just nine points for the final three playoff seeds. RSL – which could still finish as high as sixth in the West, with two wins and some help from LAFC – likely needs at least one win in its final two games in order to extend the Club’s postseason qualification streak to a West-best six seasons, eight of the last nine year overall, and 16 of 19 campaigns dating back to its inaugural playoff foray in 2008.
Saturday’s RSL at San Jose contest on Apple TV features Keith Costigan and Maurice Edu on the primary English-language call, while Diego Pessolano and Max Cordaro will provide the Spanish-language analysis. Simultaneously, the KSL Radio team of David James and Jay Nolly return to the mic, with Manuel Hernández conducting the Spanish call with Willy Barrueta and Isidro López on KBMG Latino 106.3 FM.

RSL arrives in San Jose looking to exact revenge for the Earthquakes’ shock equalizer at the death just two weeks ago at America First Field in Sandy, which saw the 1-1 draw erase an apparent 79th-minute game-winner from Canadian World Cup centerback Luc de Fougerolles. RSL now looks to build upon the momentum from Wednesday’s comeback win in Austin, which saw Georgian international Saba Lobjanidze equalize minutes after Austin took the lead for his fourth goal in the last 10 games, setting the table for RSL Designated Player Morgan Guilavogui to score the game-winning goal on an assist from rookie Sergi Solans, who started the week with his third career brace in the 3-0 home win over St. Louis.
Now with 18 goals across all competitions and 14 in his debut MLS campaign. Solans needs just three goals in his final two games this MLS regular season to match the all-time Club-best scoring campaigns (17 goals by Arango, 2024; Saborio, 2012), as well as the MLS all-time rookie record of 17 goals (Cyle Larin, Orlando, 2015). Guilavogui – suspended due to yellow card accumulation for the San Jose game – was also credited with two assists in last Saturday’s victory, bringing his 2026 MLS reg. season totals to four goals and 10 assists in his inaugural MLS campaign, the ninth player in RSL’s history to accrue double-digit assists in a season.
Real Salt Lake Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has now managed the Club in 220 matches across all competitions, registering 89 wins, 80 losses and 51 draws in MLS, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup and international friendly contests since late August, 2021. The former U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup standout (2002, 2006), MLS Cup Champion (2010) as a player, and former Colorado Rapids manager (2014-16) has averaged 1.60 points per game with RSL in his 220 matches at the helm. Only Cup-winning former manager Jason Kreis (2007-13) – now the Club’s President of Soccer – boasts more games, more wins and a higher PPG average than Mastroeni in RSL’s 22 seasons.
During the Mastroeni era, resilience, grit and determination have served as trademarks for RSL, with the Club suffering back-to-back losses on just 25 occasions in those 220 games. The October 17 road win at Kansas City marked the latest opportunity for the Claret-and-Cobalt to display its “xDAWG” mentality to earn the result, now winning 37 and drawing 19 times in “bounce-back” games following a loss in Mastroeni’s five-plus seasons in Utah. Drawing first blood has also proven to be critical for RSL during the five-plus seasons under Mastroeni, with RSL now 59-12-23 (W-L-T) when scoring first.

RSL Next Home Match: 11/7 @ 5:00 PM
